01 // PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Brief

Victory Hill Exhibitions presented us at Wildlife with a unique challenge – to completely refresh the content screens at the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. in Las Vegas. This world-class interactive museum experience enables fans to intimately engage with their favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes. However, the existing digital screens were overly text-heavy and reflected an outdated visual style.

We were tasked with revamping the look and feel of each screen to feature both classic and new character additions that would harmonize with the incredible physical components, props, and activations that bring the space to life. Our challenge was to deliver a fresh set of visually striking designs and animated content for the entire exhibit, crafting elements that were colorful, modern, and scientifically informative to enhance the legacy of these beloved characters.
02 // THE DESIGN

Given the scope of the project and the need to create a large volume of content for the entire experience,

we began by designing a customized toolkit of UI elements, widgets, and screen elements that streamlined the production process across the numerous refreshed character screens.

With this bespoke toolkit at our disposal, we were able to easily customize individual elements for each character while still maintaining a cohesive look and feel across the exhibit. We designed unique screen styles for different zones of the S.T.A.T.I.O.N., and defined color palettes for both villains and heroes that provided a broad baseline for our design process.

While Marvel provided some 3D assets, we had the special opportunity to recreate many iconic elements, such as the coveted Infinity Stones (but don’t worry, we promise not to snap our fingers like Thanos!). These elements were instrumental in enhancing key animation moments and creating a rich and immersive experience for visitors.

Using a mix of 2D and 3D elements, we were able to bring depth and richness to each character, resulting in an engaging, easy-to-read, and visually stunning display that adapted seamlessly to 1, 2, 4, or even 14 screen layouts unique to each character’s story, strength, and abilities.

03 // ANIMATION

To bring the screens to life, we blended

heroic character imagery, high-tech UI animations, and original 3D elements with full-motion 4K footage from Marvel’s extensive catalog of films, resulting in a stunning final product.

Hundreds of animated UI screen elements flash, pulse, and move as if the Avengers’ database is coming to life before visitors’ eyes, displaying top-secret insights into the entire character index. Gamma ray particles burst and mutate Bruce Banner into the Hulk on one screen, while another utilizes 3D visualizations of Captain America’s shield to highlight its unique attributes.

To accomplish this, we had to mix sources from different eras, resolutions, and formats, requiring fluid animation to carry visitors through each screen’s narrative arc. Our aim was to immerse fans inside the world of each character, breaking down a variety of topics with compelling animations that keep viewers engaged without detracting from the broader experience around them.

04 // EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Explaining the science behind the MCU and its real-world applications.

A key aspect of our work on the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibit was to explain the scientific concepts and real-world applications that underpin the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To accomplish this, we carefully curated each area of the exhibit, creating bespoke screen content that highlighted character backstories and iconic artifacts, while also providing insights into the science behind the characters’ abilities and technologies.

Our team of copywriters and designers worked closely together to craft original content that captured the essence of the core IP, while also drawing parallels between the science of the MCU and modern science in our own world. We leveraged high-tech visualizations and original 3D animation to help convey complex scientific concepts in a way that was both informative and engaging.

One of our key goals was to educate younger attendees about the exciting real-life applications of scientific advances. To this end, we worked to showcase the latest breakthrough innovations and strategies, highlighting the ways in which similar scientific principles and technologies are being developed and utilized today.

Overall, our efforts were focused on delivering an immersive and educational experience that would both entertain and inform visitors, while also deepening their appreciation for the rich world of the Avengers.

05 // TOUR

In addition to the flagship Vegas location,

custom screen content was required for various touring locations across the globe. These locations would exist as a part of the experience’s international presence, either temporarily or permanently.

To ensure a smooth and efficient localization process, our team developed a streamlined production pipeline. This allowed for quick turnaround and delivery of exhibit assets in each of the six different languages needed for the worldwide versions.

To further support localization updates and future expansion of the experience, flexible toolkit templates were included as part of the final deliverables for the Victory Hill Exhibitions production team. This simplified the process of adapting content for new locations and maintaining consistency throughout the global footprint of the experience.

06 // RESULTS

Over the course of this massive content push,

Wildlife produced over 100 unique screens for the renovation and update of the physical space.

One of the most impressive sequences was a 14-screen, 180-degree Bifrost experience that transports users to Thor’s home planet of Asgard, immersing them in a breathtaking display of light and movement before arriving at the planet for a closer look.

The grand reopening in 2020, along with new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, provided fans with an exciting visual feast that showcased each interactive area of the S.T.A.T.I.O.N. in thrilling ways.
